Down and up again

Diary No Comments »

I got involved in an accident on Monday evening which caused me to hit the concrete and fuck up my right arm. Long story short, I’m getting better and legal procedure is on its way. Remember: Earth always gets you back to the ground, no matter how high you’ve been. This applies metaphorically as well.

Anyway, I am looking forward to leaving for Paris tomorrow morning, and eventually to continue to Luxembourg in the evening of that same day.

Korin bought bones

Culinary 1 Comment »

Store bought bones by the Raconteurs is a good song. Korin is an amazing shop.

This is my 3rd order from them and there will certainly be a 4th at some point in time. Korin carries a very wide variety of the best japanese knifemakers aswell as many other japanese ustensiles related to cooking and restauration. I might add more info later, and I’ll leave you with this picture of the shipment’s content as of now.

The package contained 2 knives, a dual sharpening stone, a square pan for japanese omelette, and the amazing Nobu Now book, among other things.

Visit korin.com and check their stuff out if you like cooking. It’s totally worth it.

Sushi, Part 1

Culinary No Comments »

This isn’t anything new, but I decided it was worth posting.

Some nice examples of self-made sushi.

One of my best attempts at sushi so far, dates back to this summer actually. I started getting into sushi, japanese food in general and specially into japanese knives about half a year ago. My new order from korin.com actually arrived at the post office yesterday, so expect some updates on japanese cutlery and accessories very soon.

A welcome surprise

Fingerboarding No Comments »

On saturday, the 6th of December, just in time for Sinterklaas, I quite inexpectedly received a package from my dear friend Martin Winkler. Though I must admit that, as years passed by, my excitement for this kind of surprise does not equal the magic experience it was some years ago, when Winkler Wheels were a dream come true to me and every package or even news from Martin were like a revelation, I still feel great joy and quite a bit of nostalgia upon receiving his uniquely wrapped wheels, stickers and accessories.

Thanks for continuous amazingness and genuinity, Martin.

The new Winkler Wheels TLC reloaded. Awesome as usual.

5 hours

Diary No Comments »

Seems like a lot, but in fact I don’t even know where to start with all that work I have to finish. Some for today, a lot for tomorrow.

Time goes by… so fast!

Tuesday evenings

Diary No Comments »

My Tuesdays here in LH feel inefficient in a way : an idle morning without class, which presents a learning opportunity which I rarely make full use of because of my habit of extended sleeping sessions that reach until noon and make up for my lack of rest on other days, an afternoon marked by the interesting but tiring history and english classes, which are separated by an one hour break which isn’t really one, because I usually bike back to my flat to have some quick snack and then to the other building for the next class. Right now I’m in the CCI, listening to presentations and rather passively participating. My eyes hurt a bit, and I am looking forward to badminton this evening, although I have already considered the possibility of dropping it exceptionally due to the pile of work that has been stacking up in front of me. But then I changed my mind, remembering it might be the 2 hours that make my day. Can’t wait to see her.

When I get back at around 10pm, I’ll still have to do my chinese homework.
Intense.
